Snowpack

Snowpack has settled out well--no instability or fresh avalanche activity to report. Lots of BC skier tracks, in big lines, w/ no apparent incidents. Wind and SUN have been having their way with the upper pack, but still finding remarkably good skiing up high--these winds might change that. And we are still seeing evidence of significant recent natural avalanches. Attached picture, taken yesterday, is from the steep, generally E face of Spirit Gulch... ran down to the flats below and up the other side a bit... 1200' vertical, good propagation. Not clear when it ran, but most likely the middle of last week. The Ides of March just around the corner.... take heed
