Snowpack
Sunday we skied the south face. It felt like full on spring- sunny skies, warm temps, and light winds from the west. The snow heated up quickly and we found punchy snow below treeline- facets with a two inch crust that was supportable in some sections. Above treeline in the bowl snow stayed firm/frozen. Mashed potato snow in the lowest part, with a mix of crust and corn in the lowest pitches. This crust and frozen snow will provide a great sliding surface for new snow this week.
Avalanche
The bottom of the run, near treeline, was very warm and we had wet sloughs running as we skied.
