Snowpack

Below and near treeline on south, southeast, east, and north aspects: Settled storm snow totals ranged from 8" to 15", except in windloaded areas where depths reached approximately 3 ft. Storm snow fell on supportive crusts on due south aspects and showed good bonding with no signs of instability. Everywhere else is a different story! Very touchy slab conditions as you round to the southeast and the crusty storm snow interface gives way to a very thin crust over facets or just facets on everything more north facing. Preserved surface hoar found in some locations below the storm slab as well. The slab was generally Fist to 4Finger in hardness, depending on wind affect. Almost every slope we approached that was steeper than 35 degrees on E and NE aspects, we were able to trigger the storm slab by some stomping on rollovers or kicking from ridgelines.
