Snowpack

Low elevation E/NE facing aspen slopes. HS was ~70 cm with surface facets on top of most recent snows on top of an obvious 'mid-pack' i(e: persistent slab) resting above ~15-20 cm of a basal layer of depth hoar/facets. Boot pen to ground, ski pen boot top to ground while breaking trail. Numerous large collapses shaking snow off trees in forest, a few small shooting cracks on terrain features approaching 35* or steeper. Thin snowcover and persistent slab problem still very much a problem on this type of terrain. Stayed at low 30's or less slope angle.Skiing was good (all grass underneath) though shallow and putting in skin tracks out was punchy. No crusts found at all on E/NE facing slopes.
