Braving the cold to find steep shots of faceted pow.

Wrapped up a 4-day AST2 based out of RVs in the WhitePass with a tough group of Yukoners who braved overnight temps as cold as -37.

Alpine temperatures were inverted through the weekend with daytime highs of -15C. Firm, previously wind-affected snow surfaces are starting to facet making for fast travel. In more sheltered alpine terrain up to 30cm of surface-facets are making for relatively good skiing if you know where to look. We encountered only isolated pockets of stubborn small windslab allowing us to step out into bigger more complex terrain.
