Overall long day in the hills seeking turns in unlikely places. Skis on at 750m elevation. Fresh snow at 900m and up. Reached 1520m but stopped due to late hour and very poor visibility and known steep slopes nearby. Opportunity for good riding with experience in the area. Difficult access.
Weather
Overcast to fog to minor sunbreaks and back. Warming throughout the day. Snow remained on trees, but a few bombs beginning to occur.
Snowpack
Heavy new snow over a wet, crusty older surface. No cohesiveness in the new snow and no apparent wind alteration. Bond between new and old snow not yet firm, but ski cut on steep rolls triggered point release if anything. Lots of pinwheeling on steep slopes and globbing skins. We avoided leeward aspects and steep terrain so cannot comment on snowpack there.
