Had a nice walk along the base of highwood ridge. We skied some low angle dense trees and enjoyed some early season pow. There still some sharks here and there. We avoided the more open trees below the slide paths for fear of overhead loading. It was snowing S1-S2 throughout the day and the winds picked up to Mod in the afternoon.

We dug a pit and did a CT. HST70cm, noticed a pencil crust at 20cm and a 1 finger layer at 30cm. Our CT failed at 13 on the 20cm crust, sudden planar, 30 degree slope. Lots of whumphs throughout the day. Some shooting cracks, largest propagation was 1-2m. Most instability was noted in the creekbed where it was more open, much less wind affect in the dense trees.
