On the south side of CCR 306, the cornice rimmed 40 to 45 degree slope facing east at an elevation of 11,500-12,000 feet

Avalanche
The summit of Cottonwood Pass, Chaffee County Road 306, West of Buena Vista, CO. On the south side of CCR 306, the cornice rimmed 40 to 45 degree slope facing east at an elevation of 11,500-12,000 feet, with a snowpack of 3 to 4 feet, produced a sizable slide on Tuesday 01/28/2020 at approximately 12:00pm. The slide was triggered by a private/public snow bike riding across the peak. A Rocky Mountain Adventure Rentals guide was made aware of the event and observed the aftermath of the slide but did not witness the slide in action.
