Chill resort day on the edge of Hollyburn and Cypress resort (Collins run). There was a crust formed from the freezing rain Wednesday March 1 evening on top of about 20cm of lighter snow (likely Monday night/Tuesday storm snow). The freezing rain compressed the bottomless pow from Sunday and Tuesday storms, unfortunately. This crust might've been at play in the skier accident and SAR rescue from Christmas Gully this day. A Cypress patrol told me the crust was a "twist your leg kind of snow". The day was a mix of cloud and wind, then sun, then fog (as the SAR chopper flew in), then clearing, then nice fluffy snow. I skied about 10am-3pm. The photos are from the untouched snow just off piste, at the resort boundary closest to Hollyburn treed Backcountry area in non-treed terrain.
