Weather
Warm temperatures and sunny skies. A few cumulus clouds began to build over the valleys but strong winds limited vertical build-up. Southwest winds increased significantly mid-afternoon and blowing snow obscured visibility on most ridgelines after 3:30.
Snowpack
Near and above treeline, winds kept surface snow generally dry on northerlies. Sunny aspects at the upper elevations only surface snow became moist. Below treeline, late in the afternoon surface snow was wet, with isolated shallow rocky areas beginning to feel punchy and unsupportive. There is ample snow for transport in the alpine, and although not exceptionally dry, wind speeds are currently strong enough for effective transport and loading.
Avalanche
A few very small loose wet avalanches from steep east facing cliffs in the morning and westerly facing cliffs as the afternoon warmed. Visibity became poor above treeline but only a few small loose dry sluffs were seen
