Weather

Light snow, mix of clouds and sun. Light winds below tree line, but stronger along the ridge lines.

Snowpack

Variable. Noticeable faceted layer below stiff slab at the surface below tree line. Whumpfing and noticeable settling when skiing 25 degrees southwest slopes.

Avalanche

Herman gulch, 3rd chute up the drainage. The one below it also ran, but was not as big and did not make it to the trail. Start zone looked to be at the ridge line from wind-drifted snow. Propagated to the ground at around 11,700 ft. Slide crossed the usual snowshoe and ski track then crossed the creek and ran up the other side of the valley. Looked to be natural within the last 24 hours.
