Weather
Overcast with clouds building. More intense flurries ramped up around 1:30pm as we were back at the trailhead. Winds were light in open areas and snow surfaces stayed frozen.
Snowpack
Lower elevation slopes, including north aspects, formed a melt/freeze crust yesterday that did not soften up today. This breakable layer was around an inch thick and capped the rapidly settling storm snow from the past few days. Near treeline in open terrain, recent winds formed a nasty breakable crust a few inches thick over softer snow below. This made for a hollow feeling snowpack in the upper foot or so, but showed no signs of instability.
