Weather

Mostly sunny skies with periods of broken clouds and very light snowfall. Winds were light blowing from the NE (very strange) at 10,00ft on Bears Gulch ridgeline.

Snowpack

Wide spread wumphing/collapsing and shooting cracks on Easterly slopes and places where wind created dense snow near ridgeline. Average snowpack height on Easterly slopes at 10,000ft is 2ft deep. About 11" of new snow is resting on top of 12" of facets. At this new/old interface we found lots of signs of instability. Two test pits showed concerning results: ECTP4, ECTP5, PST 19/100 (SF).

Avalanche

Very small natural slab avalanche was observed on a NE facing slope of Bears Gulch just below ridgeline at about 10,00ft.
