Surface Hoar

Since the current public bulletin is a bit vague due to the lack of commercial input around the Central Kootenays (early season) , I’ll share some more observations:

25-30cm of new snow overnight with moderate southerly winds.

A storm/developing persistent slab was reactive to skier traffic today in N-NW aspect open areas at tree line in the Slocan Range. The November 16 surface hoar (5-7mm) was present in most open areas below tree line and at tree line today. It sits below a 30-40cm fist to 4 finger+/1 finger- slab and was most reactive in wind affected immediate lee features.

The height of snow in areas travelled today ranged from 120-160cm between 1700-2200m. Lots of early season hazards are still lurking just below the new snow.

Aside from that, ski conditions are pretty stellar!
