Weather

Moderate to heavy snow continued during the trip, about 3 inches fell in the few hours I was out. Gusty southwest winds in exposed terrain and near treeline ridges drifted snow on north and northeast-facing slopes.

Snowpack

The total snow depth near treeline is about 1.5 meters deep on north-facing slopes. Extended Column Tests produced easy propagating results (ECTP7)at the new snow 30 to 40 centimeters below the surface. No other results could be produced deeper in the snowpack although small pockets in the avalanches I observed stepped down into deeper weak layers.
