Heavy snow and wind continue to plague the Silverton area. Once again the storm has over produced.

Snowpack

Very Large natural avalanches are a strong indication that the snowpack continues to hit it's tipping point, specifically in wind-loaded terrain at upper elevations. Little avalanche activity observed from the road in the 550 corridor and a few skiers reported no signs of insatiability in steep terrain near Dear Creek. With the historic nature of this event. I am choosing to spend as little time below large avalanche paths as possible.

Estimating we had a Natural cycle mid-afternoon and maybe into this evening with high precipitation intensity and continued wind-loading. Avalanches are failing in the alpine, running full track, and changing landscapes.
