09:45 - Overcast skies, snowing S-1, light to mod winds from the S. Skies clearing in the early afternoon with visible blowing snow at ridge line.
Snowpack
16-18cm of F+ new snow in protected areas below tree line. Except in the thick timber, found the new snow slightly wind affected with about 4cm of wind stiffened 4F snow at the surface. Near tree line stepping off skin track, easily got several audible collapses on W facing steeper rolls/road banks with shooting cracks up to 20-30 feet.
Avalanche
With skies clearing in the afternoon, spotted what looked like a N-SS-R2-D2 from Hwy 550. Off the ridge of Red 1, NE aspect ATL. No good photos...
