Broken skies with calm to light west wind. Temperatures were cool for McClure in the teens warming to near freezing at noon.
Snowpack
Weak, fragile, and shallow best describe the current snowpack on McClure. There is minimal to no slab structure with facets observed throughout the profile under about 3" of new snow. However, there was a propagating test result in a long column test. The weak layer is large grained depth hoar resting on a melt-freeze crust. HS is 65cms on the shallower terrain above the start zone and around 55cms on the steeper east facing terrain. Structure is similar although no melt-freeze crust and a thinner layer (15cms) of smaller grained depth hoar in the steeper terrain. Surface roughness is starting to become obscured in the start zone but the track is still very rough and would attenuate a lot of snow.
