Snowpack

On a southeast aspect, most recent storm snow sits on a melt-freeze crust that sits on top of facets and depth hoar. Non-propagating ECT results above and below the melt-freeze crust. See snowpit profile for more detail. Just below ridgeline I was able to get some small windslabs to pop loose up to a foot deep. They propagated a foot or two beyond the tips and tails of my skis and ran for no more than 10 feet.
