Snowpack
I dug on a southeast aspect above treeline. The HS was around 75cm, and the snowpack consisted of a 50cm slab sitting on a 3cm layer of facets that overlays a 20cm thick melt-freeze crust sitting on the ground. See snowpit profile for more detail. Travelling on north aspects the snowpack generally consisted of near surface facets on top of a slab that overlays a basal facet layer. No cracking or collapsing of the snowpack was noted.
