Weather
Beautiful San Juan day. Light wind, but only at ridgetop. Warm temperatures and a few clouds, maybe 3.
Snowpack
Digging on a southeast slope near treeline @ 11,800' it appeared that yesterdays warm temperatures only affected the top 5-10 cm's of the snowpack. Below a fragile melt-freeze crust around 40 cm of dry snow sat on the old dust crust layer from the first warm-up. Speaking of dust, I didn't see much in the new snow around Red Mountain Pass area. Maybe more will show up with todays warming? Drifted pockets on north and east slopes are easy to spot and in some ways also easy to avoid. Some westerly slopes are back to rock or have a slick hard surface created by last weekends wind.
Avalanche
Limited Loose Wet activity observed. If any it was in steep rocky slopes NTL and ATL south and west. I did see some rollerballs.
