clear AM, thin clouds filtering in through day, calm in valleys, ridgetops 10-15 MPH W-SW winds, minimal snow transport. Temps -5 to -2 above 11,000, some solar effect below 11,000 on S-SW (mid day moist surface/PM zipper crust) with warmer snow and temps at highway elevation
Snowpack
no noise! no womphs! no excitement! on Moderate (20-25 degree with some 30 degree) terrain BTl/ATL. quick pit hand shears at 11,500' indicate a weak layer in mid storm snow (down 30 cm) and at base of storm snow (Q2 surface.) partly followed a day old trail (thanks Becs(?) and broke a significant distance of new, ski pen= boottop+, except where wind denuded on SW exposure at ridgetop and saddle. new surface hoar formation on protected areas at ridge at 11,600 at old trail. avys in yesterday's CAIC reports appear to have filled in.
