Weather

Warm with short periods sun matched by light snow and a calm breeze.

Snowpack

Still a fair bit of obvious signs of instability. A thick, pencil hard, slab balances over old, weak layers that collapse and propagate failures quite easily still during snowpack tests. This slab was built from many ft. of snow that was driven by wind during most of the storms between Jan.4th- 16th. The recent 3 days of warm daytime temps, added a thin breakable melt freeze crust on SE and S aspects BTL. Which was buried by ~8cm of new snow at night on 1/22. On slopes southerly slopes >20º, this crust is more pronounced.
