Partly cloudy skies became overcast during my trip. Warm temperatures and light to calm winds.
Snowpack
Most paths on Molas and Coal Bank are bare ground or patchy coverage, and well below threshold. HS varied from 0-20". Areas with less than a foot of snow were wet, unconsolidated large-grained melt forms. Deeper areas had a foot of these grains on top of wet rounds. Red Mountain Pass is a little more wintry. The Brooklyns still had ~24" of snow in the tracks. A foot or so of moist melt forms with a few ice masses and melt freeze crusts, and moist, pencil-hard rounds below that. The steeper more sun-exposed start zones are melting out, but some areas still have enough snow to be a concern. Mother Cline and Blue Point are starting to melt out, but still holding enough snow to produce avalanches to the road.
