Weather
Mostly to partly cloudy skies today, with temperatures hovering around freezing. Winds were light out of the southwest with a little bit of blowing snow where I traveled. About 2" of new snow in the area overnight.
Snowpack
I traveled primarily on northerly aspects near and below treeline. The snowpack in these elevation bands was supportive to ski travel, however boot penetration is still almost to the ground. The snowpack where I dug consisted of a mid-pack slab over depth hoar with faceted grains, a thin wind-hardened layer, and last night's new snow on top. Propagating ECT results at the slab/depth hoar interface.
