Early Season snow West of Smithers (<1400m): HS 10cm in open areas, while in the thick timber, mostly 0. 1400m-1500m): HS 25cm widely distributed with notable pencil hard rain crust ~5cm down. Widespread surface hoar (0.5-1cm) throughout subalpine meadows. Observed wumpfing on a wind loaded convex roll near 1500m. *did not investigate failure plane. >1500m: Wind affect prevalent. HS ranging from 45-80cm on cross loaded features and lee slopes, to HS 0cm on more exposed areas. Clear skies showed similar wind affect on all alpine features including the Microwave, Sinclair, Serb, Fingers crossed for more snow, and less wind moving forward!
