Dug a pit in a flat section with a break in the trees 30' round. Snowpack was 95 cm deep with a very light rain/meltfreeze crust on top. 5cm of hard crust on the ground followed by 5cm of sugary facets. Hard to distinguish any other layers in the rest of the snowpack, but it did consistently get less dense from bottom to top from 1F, 4F and a fist. Temperature was 2°at the time but it had been up to 6° earlier on the walk up. It had started to rain heavily back at the car after this observation.
