Snowpack
We were in a relatively flat area out of avalanche danger. All members of our party were triggering significant crack propagation and whumpfing. I am 240# and triggered cracks of at least 40 feet. My 8 year old daughter was even triggering cracks. Because of these signs, we decided to do an ECT. The column fractured and propagated at 33 hits (3rd hit from the shoulder) at a depth of about 1 foot. The test was repeated twice to confirm the results. I would not be comfortable being on consequential terrain in these conditions. Location: Near the old Pike's Peak Ski Area Aspect: East facing Elevation: 11,000'
Avalanche
None visible in our area. We were below treeline, so we did not have clear views.
