Mostly cloudy and cool with intense NW winds and a few flurries- giving way to mostly sunny skies by 1:30 pm.

Snowpack

With very little snowfall during the month of February, the avalanche paths along the CO 145 corridor are slowly, but surely losing volume. The snowpack has begun to transition to a more springlike regime, with a stout layer (6-15 cm) of melt/freeze crust on the surface on all aspects. Water has begun to percolate deeper into the snowpack on sunny slopes and a layer of moist facets sits at the bottom of the snowpack in many locales. The most southerly and lower elevation slopes have begun to melt out in places.
