Snowpack
The snowpack has settled out and adjusted to its load. As the sun gets higher in the sky, any sunny days bring a warming regime to the south facing slopes. Today, southeast through west got wet on the surface and a strong crust exists. The northerly side of the compass is staying dry and the surface snow is recrystallized and soft. Snow depths vary greatly in the alpine from areas well over 200cm to some as low as 100cm in the same drainage only a few feet away from each other. This variability is due largely from the erratic very strong wind events we've seen over the last month. Without much of a slab on either the weak surface snow or the shallow weak faceted snow there is little hazard currently. Some cornices are growing very large.
