2 ft persistent snap on top of faceted layer

50x150 ish. Everyone was okay. We were backcountry skiing, my friend dropped in on his split bored and after his first turn the slide let loose, I yelled his name 3 times and as he looked over it grabbed him, he managed to grab a small tree just a few feet below him and held on. He had no injuries. Once we got down to him we helped him up and we talked about it. Then we picked our way back to the hut staying in thick trees.
