Weather
Temperatures in the high teens with scattered clouds and moderate northwest winds. Plenty of wind transport at ridge top, with some blowing snow down into the near treeline realm.
Snowpack
I traveled on east to southeast aspects today. The snow surface stayed cold and dry, despite it feeling quite warm when the wind wasn't blowing. Winds were efficiently transporting snow above treeline, with some transport observed near treeline as well. The mid-pack slab that formed in January is capped with a melt-freeze crust about 50cm below the snow surface. A layer of facets sits on top of this and is capped by another melt-freeze crust--this crust/facet combo corresponds to the early February interface. I had propagating ECT results on this layer, and it will be the layer to watch in this area with next week's storm.
