Snowpack
Run that I skied boot deep pow in three days ago was totally windstripped and at the NTL ATL transition there was about 2-3cms of surface facets, about 1-2mm in size. Above that the snow was Pen+ windboard that was slightly faceted but locked in. Provided nice, firm, edgeable skiing. I thought the 2-3cms of facets at the transition zone was interesting given our local conception that the wind blows away all the facets in this area, especially as we were there while the wind was dying down as this next storm approaches. Could mean similar areas will have a thin layer of surface facets buried by the next storm.
