Snowpack
Boot-top penetration on skin track going up pass road. Goal of the day was to scout terrain, as the snowpack seemed to be too unstable to ski. Whumphing and settling common along roadcuts, no major cracking was noted. Total snow depth 75 cm, facets/bed surface of avalanche 0-43cm, recent storm slab 32 cm.
Avalanche
R1 D1 Avalanche remotely triggered underneath slope by second skier traveling under slope (ENE- facing, 35 degree slope, near 11, 200 ft.) on road cut. Skier stayed behind trees and partially buried up to thighs. No injuries.
