Snowpack

Surfaces rapidly warmed. 10 am areas exposed to sun were softening to corn, still icy in shade, by 11 softening in the shade too. Shallow areas borderline unsupportive by noon. I'd expect similar tomorrow but softer earlier and lots of action out of steep rocky areas.

Avalanche

A few small (D1) natural loose wet slides in steep, rocky, northerly areas that started as points and entrained more snow on the slopes below. They did not gouge deeper than the recent snow but still would be uncomfortable->dangerous if you were caught. See pictures. Also, no pics but looks like a larger D2 and several D1s from yesterday PM out of west-facing Y-Couloir in the Gore Range visible from I-70 eastbound.
