Snowpack
The upper elevations of the Kebler Pass area picked up over 15" of snow between October 12-15, according to first-hand reports from Irwin Townsite residents. The area that received these snowfall amounts roughly extends through the West Elk Wilderness, into the Raggeds, Ruby Range, tapering to less snow at Schofield Pass. In this area a fairly consistent blank of snow covers the southerly aspects above treeline (see photos), and extends to well below treeline on northerly-facing slopes. The Elk Range has lower snow totals with much mostly bare ground on southerly aspects. East of Crested Butte towards Cottonwood Pass the snow totals were in the 4-6" range.
