Weather

Cool and clear morning up Express Creek. There was a light breeze from the northwest observed when I poked just above treeline.

Snowpack

The snowpack up Express Creek is shallow and aligns with the adjacent areas to the east where, due to thin snow cover, there is no avalanche problem. Travel on skis and route finding was difficult when off Express Creek road and I was hard-pressed to find a previously drifted east-facing slope with more than 50cms of snow for a snow profile observation. Prominent, steep north-facing above treeline terrain is wind-stripped while less extreme terrain or concave features that face north still hold continous snow. The snow on the ground is quickly degrading to all faceted grains.
