Great day skiing up to Burstall Pass. We left the parking lot at 6:30am. Snow down low was hard and crusty but got softer as we climbed to higher elevations. Surprisingly, 10 - 15cm of soft powder in sheltered areas in the hanging valley! Snow on the pass was a soft, slightly wind effected layer on a harder layer and made for some decent turns. Wind on the pass was calm and the sky was partially cloudy. We started heading down just as the sun poked behind the mountain and temps warmed rapidly in the direct sun. Many big cornices hanging off the ridge up to Snow Peak and on most leeward side cliffs baking in the sun. Fortunately, the sky became overcast later in morning and very light snow started to fall with light wind. We didn't observe any wet slides. We were back at the parking lot by 12:30pm. If you go, go early.
