Weather

Strong wind (funneled from the west) at the cabin last night with about 3” overnight. Snow squalls through the day with with 2-4” during the day. Snowfall picked up around sunset with 8” estimated at 7pm. Sheep’s Head cabin is a windy spot and not a good spot for measuring snow.

Snowpack

Typing on a phone.... Spent most of the day in Treasure Creek between 10500 and 11600 on NE facing terrain. Skiing steep agressive terrain, maniging the PSa problem by staying observant as to where the snowpack would be below average in depth. Things like very rocky things or terrain that had a thiner snowpack due to wind. HS in the 235 to 300cm. Terrain felt plastered. Game on pillows. Crusts formed yesterday on all but shaded northerly slopes. Venture to far NE or Nw and crusts were just under the new snow. Managing btl slopes for specific criteria felt spot on.

Avalanche

Yesterday afternoon during clear weather not much was observed. Some old crowns where hiding and mostly filled in. Nothing too notable. One D2 failed more recently on a steep windloded easterly slope ATL, failing from a cornice breaking or a windslad right at ridginge, 2.5 to 3 foot crown.
