Avalanche

The following is an incident that Parks Canada and Lake Louise Ski Patrol responded to: A group of three snowboarders traversed into West Bowl from top of summit platter. The first boarder triggered a large avalanche, but was not buried. The remaining two boarders at the top of the slope were scared to continue and called for help. A patroller was able to get voice contact with them from the ski hill boundary and had them bootpack back up and inbounds. The lower boarder was able to self evacuate and return inbounds. None of the party had avalanche safety gear.
