Winds wrapping from NW to W to S, Mod gusting to Strong. Moderate snow transport, skintracks refilling in an hour or so. Few clouds, air temp 28 and rising
Snowpack
Dug a pit in a somewhat wind loaded roll. HS 65cm, foot pen to ground, largely a thick F layer that stiffens near the ground to a 4F layer from 8-25cm, underlaid by 8cm of depth hoar (1.5mm?) to the ground. See photo for a rough snow pit profile. Test results were CT2P Q1 SC @20cm; ECTPV @25cm.
Avalanche
Avalanche remotely triggered by a skier on a wind roll; looks like it failed on the same 4F/depth hoar interface that was giving me strong test results. HS-ASr-R1D1-G
