Heavy snow and moderate winds. Snow tapered and clouds broke on the pass about 5 PM. Driving down the canyon snow began again near Garfield.
Snowpack
50-60cm of new very low density snow. Observed dozens of small avalanches that failed naturally within the top 15-25 cm of the storm snow most likely from a density change. Continue to find a concerning crust, facet, crust combination below the recent snow. I did not experience any collapsing on this layer but did get propagation in an Extended Column Test on my 17th tap. Some shovel shear tests showed weak snow both above and below the crusts. The facets and depth hoar were not reactive in stability tests in my snowpit.
