We avoided large steep open slopes today due to uncertainty with Dec 13th Surface Hoar (SH) and skied pretty conservative terrain. Apart from the explosive triggered avalanche across the highway that ran to valley bottom and blocked the Illecillewaet River, we did not observe any signs of instability. On the surface we observed SH up to 20mm from treeline up to ridgetops, smaller below treeline.
