Objective for the day was kindergarten couloir. Noticed significant day old (ish) natural dry loose activity that did not propagate to any hard slab. On ascent through kindergarten fan we noticed a crust developing at 30cm depth laying on top of facets. Continued to investigate and noticed that the crust grew thicker and more consolidated the higher we went. At couloir exit, hasty pits were failing by their own weight at roughly 30-50cm. Then dug a pit at lookers right side of couloir exit, but had to extend it 30cm to the left as a rock protruded through the back wall. Tapping from the left side of the pit resulted in ECT 15 at 30cm without propagation. As we had an extra wide pit, we decided to repeat the ECT on the right side above the rock which resulted in ECT 15 at 70cm, significant propagation and cash register reactivity. Ride down the fan was okay, occasionally breaking through the upper crust made it somewhat challenging.
