Started the day at 8:00 emerald lake parking lot. Evidence of solid freeze overnight. Overcast with few broken patches of sun, snowing S-1 for most of the way up. As we moved past lots of debris by Hamilton lake the temps remained cool and winds picked up a bit ( gusting to high mod from West). Waited for 10-15 mins atop the line for a window of visibility. On slope there was ~10 cm of fresh snow on top of a thin crust capping last week's storm snow. No slab properties observed and new snow seemed to bond well. On a steep gully feature I was able to release a small loose dry, which ran for about 30m. Around 2000m on the way down the snow was moist, and within 50m more the top 30-40 was fully Saturated. Last few hundred meters of the descent were surprisingly warm and wet snow despite the sun barely making an appearance. Temp at bottom of the run was +5. The exit through the canyon required more attention to spacing and exposure time than I would have preferred.
