Mount Whymper North Glacier

Approach had great travel with frozen skin track. Lower bench was a bit solar affected and we threw on ski crampons. The higher we ascended onto the glacier the more wind affected the snow became. A crust between 0.5-4cm thick on top of powder. No reaction to hand shear test, no signs of instability. Left skis and boot packed to col. Skiing was choppy on main pitch and soft snow on the lower bench.
