Excellent riding conditions in the Kakwa. Sled penetration is 30-50cm with well settled snow below. Average snow depth was 150cm at 2000m elevation. Light wind drifting was observed over the weekend but was isolated to alpine ridges. Periods of heavy snowfall on Sunday resulted in loose dry avalanches from steep rocky features. A thin crust with small facets below exists in the middle of the snowpack. Tests were CTH RP to NR and no signs of instability were observed in three days of travel.
