Snowpack

74" on the stake. As is typical in mid-winter warmups, the snowpack is highly variable by aspect and exposure to the sun. Southerly and westerly aspects had a thick meltfreeze crust supportable to boots, foot pen 0. Northerly and easterly aspects, and anywhere with good shade, showed little change since last week, and still held a wintry snowpack. Surface hoar up to 1 cm was observed across the Mesa. It doesn't seem to have gotten warm enough to get a wet cycle going here. A few very small LW avalanches and rollerballs in the Island Lake paths, and a couple of shallow sluffs from the Rim was the only activity observed.
