Not sure what to say about yesterdays avalanches. I left mi casa on Sunday AM thinking high hazard. I came home thinking moderate below TL. Felt the same Monday until end of day when we started seeing the avalanches. almost no natural avalanches observed. But 1 large N facing on Sheep Mt (mega face)Today - considerable? Or pockets of considerable? I think the density of the new snow played a part. It is similar the classic Valentines type of situation. That is most usually on East. Still thinking NSF with new snow slab above. But these avis were on the windward side. The eldo was stated as a very small soft slab on a minor aspect change to a bit South. Pulled out a much bigger and deeper avi. I would not have predicted an avalanche of that size and depth. The Ophir pk was triggered by people who seem bent on punching into the most dangerous pockets they can find. More predictable than the eldo slide.
