Snowpack

I skied Huntsmans' Ridge north of McClure Pass today with a couple of buds. We skied 25-40 degree slopes on N-NE aspects from 9,600 - 10,200 ft. No collapsing or reactiveness of any kind. There was a dusting of big, beautiful stellars, and plenty of sign of the strong N-NW winds of earlier this week. I scanned the surrounding high country with the binocs and saw no natural releases on any aspect or elevation from Sopris down and around east and south to Chair Mountain. Storm snow from last week is degenerating a bit (bounced around by the wind? It hasn't been that warm), but still light on the northern aspects. South aspects show a 10 cm suncrust in exposed areas; still light and dry in the shade.
